Denim skirt

I thrifted this denim skirt about a month ago and it was a long calf-length. I hadn't worn it yet, and decided I'd get more wear out of it if it were shorter. I cut it off above-the-knee and now it's my new favourite skirt. Yay for DIY!

Beige but not bland

leopard print & pin stripes

I had such a hard time taking photographs today. It was ridiculous! It's so cold out and my camera was not cooperating at all. I'm totally envious of those bloggers who have boyfriends/husbands who happen to brilliant photographers and are willing to photograph their outfits daily. Not that I'm in the market for a husband, but if it meant better quality photos... Kidding, of course. However, today's cold, frustrating photoshoot has me wishing of spring (and for a proper tripod).

Orange Blossom

Hello all! I'm sorry that the photos aren't that great - my camera can be quite unreliable - but I really wanted to share today's outfit. Today I slept in way late and then met my friend for an early dinner. We were going to have sushi but the place was closed for renovation, so we went decided to go to Dadeo's, an 18+ New Orleans style diner, but apparently it's closed on Wednesday! We then went to the Artisan Rest-Cafe and got there less than half an hour before close. We had soup & sandwiches and split a cake, and were very grateful with our server for being so patient and kind when we probably kept him there a bit late. I hadn't seen Heather in ages and so it was really great to catch up. Among other things, we talked a bit about queer safe spaces. We talked about gay bars, and how she feels intrusive about going as a non-queer person. I thought it was awesome that my friend was so aware of her privilege and careful not to intrude other's spaces. That being said, I don't find gay bars to be a safe space at all, and if straight allies want to dance and have fun in a queer-positive space, it's fine by me. I was curious about other's perspectives on this, though. What do you think?

I was a bit brave to wear these shoes as it's still winter here. In fact when I woke I turned on the TV and then went to make coffee and the first thing I heard was "cold temperatures even by Alberta standards." Hardly a comforting way to start the day. I figured I would risk it as I was only walking a few blocks on snow-free sidewalks, but snow isn't the only thing that can make feet cold! I'm just so sick of winter and all I want to do is wear my new flats every single day.

I was wondering if any other plus-size bloggers would be interested in doing a swap of sorts. I'm inspired by this post at Kendi Everyday as well as The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants and I think a share-swap could be a lot of fun! What I'm looking for is someone who is about my size(20-24), preferably living in Canada or the US who would be interesting in swapping a few items of clothing - but only for a week or two! We could decide upon the items in advance, send each other a few skirt or dresses, wear them & blog our outfits, and then send back the (cleaned) clothes after a few weeks. I think it could be a lot of fun and if this is something you might be interested in let me know in comments or send me an e-mail at anomalous_allure@hotmail.com

Speaking of shared clothing, I was lucky enough win this lovely pre-loved dress from Kyla the Great on tumblr. I can't wait to wear it!

New purchases

Hello all! I've been doing quite a bit of shopping in the past few days and decided to make a video (my first!) to show you my new purchases. Let me know what you think!

I'm really happy with what I bought and I can't wait to wear all of my new clothes! You'll definitely be seeing them in upcoming posts.

Colourful prints

I thrifted this dress last week and positively love it! The thrift store in Camrose is quite small but it's certainly had some gems. The bright colours and busy pattern make it so fun and I love the fit. And for only $6 it's definitely my favourite dress right now. I actually wore it last Thursday as well but after an upsetting day I was in no mood to take outfit photos. I wore it again today because it seemed perfect for a Sunday.

I'm back in Edmonton for reading week and I'm quite glad to be home! This morning I went to church with my parents and bought some delicious desserts from our favourite bakery for lunch. I've spent most of the day inside, actually - it's very cold out and quite windy (as I'm sure you can tell in the pictures)!

Will you be my Valentine?

I know a lot of people aren't such a fan of Valentine's Day, but I'm totally enamoured with the holiday. It's just so darn cute! That being said, I'm a bit of a sucker for any holiday; I love any excuse to decorate and eat thematic treats. Here's a little collage of some super cute Valentine's inspired clothes and accessories.

Here's a playlist of some of my favourite love songs. I know it's a bit long but there are too many cute songs to chose from!

My all time favourite love song isn't available on Grooveshark, but I couldn't not share it. It's so beautiful, and I hope that one day it can be my wedding song. When I saw David Francey live I was completely smitten.

I hope you all had a lovely Valentine's Day, or if you don't celebrate it, a happy Monday! I'm not doing anything too special, but my friends and I going to share a heart shaped pizza from Boston Pizza.

Stronger than the love in old love songs

skirt

I have way too much grey in my closet. It was giving me a gloomy, grey headache so I decided to wear something bright to brighten my mood. It certainly worked! I felt very cute today, and I received a lot of compliments from my friends. Don't let the snow fool you, today was quite warm so it felt fitting to wear a spring inspired outfit.

I've noticed a lot of talk in the blogosphere about whether it's possible to fat, fashionable, and broke. It definitely is possible but it can also be difficult. I've been thinking about focusing a bit more on affordability on my blog, would do you all think? I'm broke and a fashion blogger and perhaps I could be a bit more conscientious about combining those two aspects. I'm not being as eloquent as I'd like but, basically, would you all appreciate it if I focused more on being fashionable while broke?

Nautical? Vintage? Both?

Thanks for the sweet comments on my last post! I'm lucky to have the most wonderful readers. ♥

I don't have too much to say today. I got up earlier than normal, did my make-up in front of my sun lamp, ate breakfast (Wednesday's bacon day in the cafeteria), and spent the morning studying for my linear algebra exam. The exam was brutal, with a heavy focus on theory, theorems, and proofs. I hope I did alright.

Everywhere is somewhere, baby

I was going to do a wishlist post, but I'm quite broke right now and thought that'd be too cruel to do to myself. Instead, I decided to create an outfit that is entirely thrifted. It was a fun challenge, but it made me realise I don't thrift as often as I used to, and my wardrobe isn't built of thrift store items like it once was. I'm sure living in a city with only one, measly thrift store has something to do with that. It felt really awesome to wear a 100% thrifted outfit.

My girlfriend and I broke up a few weeks ago. I haven't mentioned it online yet, aside from a changed facebook status, because I'm not 100% sure about internet etiquette but I figured it was time to tell you all. It was totally mutual but I'm still really bummed. She was my first love! We were together for a year! & even though we'd been growing apart for a long time, I still really miss her. I don't mean to beg for sympathy or anything, I just wanted to share. In other news, my first linear algebra midterm exam is tomorrow so I should really get to studying.

Jeans & t-shirt

This here outfit is from Tuesday. I didn't get to posting it earlier in the week, but when yesterday's plan to take outfit photos failed (it was so cold & windy!), I remembered I still had these to post. Nothing too special, but for an average day on campus it's sure a step up from tunic/leggings/uggs.

You're no star to guide me anyway

This is yesterday's outfit. It was the first time I'd worn my white wig out and I sure got a lot of comments! (Most positive, some along the lines of "silver hair whoa what who does that?!") Because the wig's so light you can see the wig cap at the crown of my head so I had to pair it with a hat. I love that ths outfit is all grey and navy blue. I also love mixng prints, polka dots, and cardigan clips. So much cute!
