18th Birthday!

Today is my 18th birthday, making me the legal drinking age in Alberta. Fun! I had a really great day. This afternoon my dad and I went to Future Shop and bought my laptop, then we were going to have lunch at a nearby Irish pub, but it was closed for renovations so we headed to Julio's Barrio. As well as splitting an appetizer plate, I had a raspberry lime margarita followed by a strawberry daiquiri. Yum. For dinner, I went out to Earl's with my parents and my girlfriend. Earl's is my favourite restaurant; along with great food, I also had two white peach bellinis. I seem to be a sugary sweet drinks kinda' girl.

Birthday outfit

skirt & shoes
I thrifted this skirt months a go, but I've been saving it for my birthday dinner.

I really wanted to treat myself to a pair of heels for my birthday. I've never really owned or worn heels, but I wanted to give them a try and though my 18th would be the perfect opportunity. But after a lot of searching, and a lot of hobbling, I think it's safe to say that heels aren't for me. I did, however, buy myself these cute dressy flats. They're my "18th birthday, I am a grown woman who can go out for drinks and look hot doing it but I just can't wear high heels and that's fine by me" shoes. Uhm, yeah.

It was Bellini Tuesday so I saved a few dollars on the drinks.

Earl's penne alfredo is my favourite.

Now I am at home, full of food and alcohol, and very content. Thanks for looking!

Dawson Creek, BC

Here are some of my favourite places in Dawson Creek.

First up is the Dawson Creek Farmer's Market. It's quite small, held in the parking lot of the Co-op Mall, and I just love it. Farmer's markets in the city are so big you can barely move, and this small one is a nice change. I'm also in love with my purchases.

Cute little owl!

I love this hand bound notebook, the flower buttons are the icing on the cake.

The owl, notebook, and lip balm were all made by the same woman.

The cupcakes and raspberry muffins were just delicious!

This is actually the first time I visited this coffee bar, and I'm sure glad I did.

Cool interior.

The best mocha of my life, and my first quiche.

I love this store. We almost didn't go because we couldn't remember the name of it or where it was, but thankfully my dad's cousin was able to tell us where to go.

At the Olde Creek Store, I bought this beautiful scarf (pictured in my last post) and this cute handmade lolli.

And finally, the Dawson Creek Art Gallery. The gallery is in an old grain elevator, and is the coolest art gallery I've ever been to. Seriously. And it always features phenomenal art.

This is a collage! It’s brilliant, if I do say so myself.

The gift shop might as well be a gallery on its own. It has incredible pottery from local potters, as well as products from other local artisans.

At the art gallery, my parents bought me these two rings. The silver and amber ring was $20, and the cool handmade bronze ring was $15.

And I bought myself this cute colouring book.

I know I’ve already bogged you down with photos, but I just have to show you a few of the beautiful murals around downtown Dawson Creek.

Dawson Creek is one of my favourite cities. Could you guess? I'd love to raise my family there. ♥

Weekend away

This past weekend I was lucky enough to finally get out of the city. My parents and I visited Dawson Creek and Grande Prairie, visiting two of my great aunts and just enjoying the lovely Peace Country. Here are some outfits I wore on the weekend. I know mirror pictures are a bit of a cop out, but they're the easiest option when you're in a hotel.

First up is what I wore for an eight hour car ride from Edmonton to Dawson Creek, BC. I know I look a bit dishevelled, but I normally look much worse after such a long drive.

Dress and leggings - Old Navy size XL
Cardigan - Alloy size XXXL
Sandals - Clark's via the Shoe Warehouse size 12
Necklace - Forever 21

What I wore around Dawson Creek, being a tourist and visiting family.

Jeans - Ricki's size 34 (these developed a huge hole that day and I had to toss them)
T-shirt - Old Navy size XXL
Necklace - Forever 21

What I wore to go to the Dawson Creek Art Gallery, and for the car trip from Dawson Creek to Grande Prairie.

Leggings - Old Navy size XL (same as above)
Top - Walmart size 4X
Scarf - local store in Dawson Creek

Tomorrow morning I'll show you some of my favourite places in Dawson Creek, as well as a few things I bought there. I was going to do it all in one post, but it was just too many photos.

Quick Update

Hello everyone!

I just got back from a quick little weekend trip with my family, and I have a few posts to share with you soon. And, tomorrow is my 18th birthday! I was worried I wouldn't have proper ID, and thus not be able to drink on my birthday, but my ID came in the mail today (along with some presents!). I have about 4 posts in mind right now, with more to come I'm sure, but they'll have to wait a little bit. Well, expect one later tonight.

Oh, and a heads up that BareNecessities, which carries a large selection of straight size and plus size intimate apparel, is offering 50% off their clearance section. Yes please! Who wouldn't want to score a new bra for less than $10?

Hello,

I know posting has been a bit light around here, and I'm sorry to say that it will likely continue to be light. In the past week my girlfriend returned from a six week trip in South Africa, and my best friend left on a 10 month exchange to Japan. Naturally, I've been focusing on spending as much time as possible with the people I love. I'm also moving into my dorm room in just under two weeks, so I'm furiously trying to pack as well as downsize the amount of stuff I have. This also means that a lot of my favourite clothes are in boxes, or will be soon. I'm a lovely combination of stressed, nervous, and excited and blogging, while certainly on my mind, hasn't exactly fit into my days. This afternoon I attempted to do my make-up for a (late) Make-Up Monday post and failed miserably.

I haven't even been able to keep up with my blog reading and commenting. I have over 200 unread posts on Bloglovin, and that's not even counting the many blogs I follow with Google.

This is, of course, not to complain but to apologize. I absolutely love blogging and will try my best to stay on top of it, but I might just not be able to.

On a completely different note, though, I went to Old Navy the other day to get a few basics for fall. I am in love! These t-shirt are so much better than Old Navy tees typically are, and these denim leggings are wonderful. Finally, a proper jegging (as opposed to those horrid MXM "denim look" leggings) available in store in Canada. They look like proper skinny jeans, zip fly and pockets included, but are very stretchy and super comfortable.

KEEP ON BROWSING!
