Mad for Mint

Mmm, mint chocolate chip ice cream. My favourite!

I've finally jumped on the mint green nail polish trend. How could I not, when it's such a beautiful colour? I thought I'd take the opportunity to try out a new brand, and a whole new formula.

Sula is a brand based in Toronto that makes perfume, body wash, body lotion, butter balms, and nail colour. This is Sula Paint & Peel nail colour in "Haze." This formula contains no formaldehyde, toluene and phthalates. It doesn't have a harsh nail polish smell, and because you can peal it off you don't need to use nail polish remover. It's meant to be "make-up for your nails" which means you can change it up and reapply daily. However, you can add a top coat and it will last as long as normal nail polish. It comes in a beautiful selection of colours and I'm very happy with mine. I would highly suggest this for anyone who is looking to move away from harsh, toxic chemicals in their personal care products, those who want change up their nail colour every day or so, and those you want to support an independent Canadian brand. However, Sula nail colour would go to waste on someone who has a habit of picking at their nails and/or cuticles. I purchased it at The Plaid Giraffe in Edmonton, which is a small local boutique that carries jewellery, purses, and scarves. Here's a list of stores in Canada and the US that carry Sula. I bought mine for $10, and they are available on the Sula website for $9 US and ship to Canada and the US.

Perfect Purples

I have finally found the two perfect shades of purple nail polish, and they're both by Joe Fresh. Joe Fresh nail polish may be by new favourite. They're quite inexpensive ($4 each or 3 for $10) and come in a lovely selection of colours, from classic to trendy, although I unfortunately missed out on their great mint colour.

I'm not great when it comes to painting my nails, but I try my best and I'm certainly getting better at it.

"I'll be singing a song that is really sad and sweet."

This past weekend I bought Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Nail Colour. I was originally drawn to this nail polish by its beautiful colour, but I absolutely love the polish itself. It dries quickly and doesn't get tacky, and the brush is flatter and wider than a lot of nail polish brushes. This makes for a nice and quick application. This nail polish is available in many other lovely colours, and for $7 a bottle I'll definitely turn to this brand the next time I'm looking for new polish.

One Zebra Two Zebra Red Zebra Blue Zebra

I am not always impressed with the clothing at Addition-Elle, but yesterday I really was. I went shopping because I had a spend $50 save $25 coupon, and I saw some cute shirts in the window. I purchased two other items, which I'll be posting about in the near future. If I had the money, there was a lot more I would've purchased. The first item is this zebra shirt.

I love it. It's young and trendy without looking like it's trying too hard. A lot of plus-sized t-shirts targeted at young people are bordering on tacky, but I find this one really cute. It's very comfortable, and I absolutely love the length and the way it hangs. It's $25, or $20 when you buy another t-shirt. Unlike a lot of Addition-Elle's clothing, I feel that the price accurately reflects the quality article. It's lightweight and a little bit sheer, but not so sheer that layering is necessary. It's not on the website, but if you're in Canada check it out! This may seem like a lot of love for a t-shirt, but I'm feeling a lot of love.

T-shirt - Addition-Elle size 3X
Cardigan - thrifted
Jeans - Old Navy size 18
Flats - Aldo size 11
Ring - farmer's market in Dawson Creek, BC
Long necklace - free from the Re-Use Centre

This fairy pendant necklace was a gift from a former friend. She bought it for me from the artist on Vancouver Island, and gave it to me on my 16th birthday. We're no longer friends, but I still wear this necklace. It's one of the nicest gifts I've received from a friend, and one of the nicest pieces of jewellery I own.

I was doodling with my liquid eyeliner and decided that dark blue polka dot fingernails was a must! They could use some work (toothpicks maybe?) but I really like them.

Nail Polish

Coloured nails aren't something that I'm always totally on board with, but lately I'm liking them more and more. Something about Gabi's mint green nails, a special someone's wonderful coloured nails, and her appreciation of mine have me swooning. Wanting something special, I swung by a local drug store and picked up this shade. It's a neat colour, but I'm less then impressed. It's too sheer, too shimmery, and does that thing where instead of drying hard it stays tacky and rubs off. Ick.

After a look at Opi's website and a quick Google search, I've found some colours I'm dying to try. As you can tell, the colour I'm looking for is a mid-tone purple or mauve bordering on dull.
