Blogging, take two (or..something like that)

Hello folks. I've missed you.

I've been thinking a lot about blogging. Seriously, a lot. And for all that thinking, I can't quite articulate my feelings on the topic. I don't have very much money. I'm not a good illustrator and I don't have (or know how to use) fancy cameras or photoshop or anything that would make my blog look more "professional." And I think I'm okay with that. I'm a twenty year-old broke queer art student with two part-time jobs, more responsibilities than I can often handle, mental health issues, a fat body, and a disorganized closet exploding with cheap clothes in a wide array of patterns. I think blogging as a medium, particularly fashion blogging, encourages people to create a facade - only showing the newest clothes, the best put together outfits, the most beautiful aspects of their life. And that's okay. It's just not for me.

All that being said, I've missed blogging. I liked having a place to share my weird broke femme outfits and I really liked being able to connect with other similarly-minded folks. So, I guess I'm giving blogging another go.

I also am in the process of trying to update my blog layout. So, I guess I'll see how that works.

  1. I love your blog and I think it's lovely how it's been! You should give yourself some credit. :) I do understand what you mean about blogging encouraging only sharing our most put together looks, though. I'm doing the Fatshion February challenge currently, and I have been much less comfortable with some of the photos I've posted so far (only 5 days in, gah!!), it's been revealing for me.

  2. I have to say I've loved your blog just the way it is. I do enjoy seeing your outfits and stuff, but mostly I just think you're a really interesting, down-to-earth sweet person who I enjoy reading about. Please don't give up. Love, Lucy x

  3. Sonia, you are wonderful. I follow many other plus-size blogs and yours is different in a good way. Yours is particularly real. You're a young student who imo reflects probably the majority of readers in the sense that we, too, cannot afford to run out and buy all the latest and greatest clothes. We are working on a budget, too. We like to score cheap clothes, too! And guess what, we wear the same outfit more than once. Forreal. I've always enjoyed your blog posts just the way they were.

  4. Thanks for your honesty. I can totally relate to this! The thing I seem to be missing is a photographer boyfriend and endless time to go to beautiful locations to take photos! You could have fooled me though, your blog looks very pretty AND professional!
