Top 24 Outfits of 2011

I decided to take a page out of Kaelah's book and share with you my favourite outfits that I've worn this year. I don't think my style has changed too much, but it was a lot of fun to go through these photos. Have you done any similar end-of-year roundups? If so, let me know in comments!

Happy Holidays

I had a really great Christmas with my family, and am still in the holiday mood now. Too bad all of the Christmas baking has been eating! Hope you're all having a good holiday/happy December.

30 for 30 Overview

Sorry for pushing this 30 for 30 overview so far back. I've had a a wonderful holiday so far and my mind hasn't exactly been on blogging, but I want to post this before I post anything else.

If you came late to this, the 30 for 30 challenge was started by Kendi of Kendi Everyday and the rules are to use 30 items in your closet to create 30 outfits. You can click here to see the 30 items I chose, and click here to see the 30 outfits I created in more detail.

30 for 30 overview
This is where I would say "click for larger photo" but I'm really bad at the internet so uhm...sorry it's so small?

The easiest item to remix was my black skirt from Old navy, by far. I probably could have worn it for all 30 outfits.

The hardest item to remix was my leopard print City Chic dress. I'm not sure why, I thought my striped sweater dress ewould be harder to remix but I had such a hard time with that leopard print number.

My favourite outfit was number 18 - it was a totallty unexpected combination, but I loved the prairie-chic vibe.

My least favourite outfit was outfit number 22, but it was also an outfit a wore a lot so I felt it was important to share. Everyone has their casual days.

All in all, this challenge was a lot of fun. It made me be a bit more creative when creating outfits, and I found myself more comfortable phototgraphing and sharing "everyday" outfits. It was a lot of work and I found it to be a big time commitment though. I'm not sure if I would do it again, If I did it would likely be during the summer.

Colourful

I was a bit out of ideas for my 30th outfit, so I decided to be a bit silly and go for the fun art teacher/colourful flight attendant look. What do you think?

Wearing a sweater as a skirt won't really work in the long run, so I'm now on the look out for a striped skirt.

I'm so relieved to be done the 30 for 30 challenge! It was a lot of fun, but I was getting a bit sick of looking at photos of myself. I'm on my way home to Edmonton this afternoon, but I'll post a round-up of the challenge in the next few days. Thanks for reading & commenting during this little blogging marathon!

Cozy Chic

I absolutely love this cozy chic outfit. Nothing's better than a dress that looks great but feels like pyjamas.

Owl print

How do you dress up an owl-print top? With trouser-cut jeans and heels, of course!

Lots of Dots

Do you ever find that photographing your outfits makes you more aware of tiny errors and annoyances in your clothing? I can wear an outfit all day without noticing a thing, but as soon as I look at photographs it becomes glaringly obvious. In this case - what on earth is that black thing on my belt? A loose thread? I didn't see it until now and of course now it's bothering me. Oh well, if I didn't notice it during the day it can't have been too obvious.

Anyways, I really love this belt and I especially love pairing it with other polka dots for subtle print-mixing. And the colour of these tights? Perfect!

Rust-ic

I absolutely love this pin I found at Value Village this past fall. It's so dainty and cute.

Orange and purple

This orange and purple colour combo might be one of my favourites. It seems like an odd combo, but when I bought this scarf a few years ago I realized just how perfectly the colours go together.

Vintage Inspired

I felt like a total babe in this vintage inspired outfit, and it gave me a chance to finally wear this brooch I've had for years. (Seriously, I found in a storage locker! Who thrifts things only to forget about them immediately? This gal.)

3 in 1

I've been making so many posts lately, so I thought I'd post three outfits at once seeing as they're all quite basic. Here ya' go!

Just a heads up that I'll be flooding this blog with outfit posts over the next few days. I have the rest of the 30 for 30 outfit photos uploaded on my computer, and I'm committed to finishing this challenge before my flight to Edmonton. I procrastinated a lot at the beginning and am making up for it now - welcome to my life! I hope you don't mind and if you do...sorry?

Bumble bee

Bumble bee

I was wearing this when two drag queens came to my youth group to talk about the drag community in our city. As they were leaving, my number one drag queen crush (who I have the same houndstooth coat as!) stopped me and asked about my shoes - "What size are your feet? Where did you get those shoes? I want them!" Eek! I died a thousand glittery deaths…these flats really are magic.

I was channeling Gazel a bit with this outfit, I love the way she pairs pullover sweaters with dresses and skirts.

I was a bit unsure of how to wear this skirt in a more wintery way, but I really liked how this outfit turned out. I feel like Rebecca of We Are Large, People with my long skirt/boots/cardigan combo. I love her style!
