I am in Edmonton right now, and very happy to be home! It is my fall break, so I came home last night and will be staying until Sunday afternoon. This morning I slept in, and then headed for a dental implant consultation with an oral surgeon. I found out the unfortunate news that I'm not a good candidate for an implant. This is really disappointing to hear, and my parent and I are going to have to look at other options. Basically, I'm missing a tooth and have been for six years (the adult tooth just never came in) and because of this I have lost a lot of bone. If I insist on going through with getting an implant, I will need further orthodontic work and a bone graph, and the implant still might not work out. That is a lot of money and a lot of time to invest in something that may not work out anyways.
Aside from dealing with oh so serious dental issues, I also went to the Salvation Army thrift store (didn't find anything today, as it sometimes goes), treated myself to Second Cup, picked up some digital photographs I had printed off, and saw an old friend just to say hello. Because I'm in Edmonton, I was able to take the outdoors-y photos I grew so fond of over the summer. This is certainly a nice change from the photos in my dorm room, wouldn't you say?
