A walk in the park

Yesterday I wrote my calculus exam, and I think it went pretty well. It is fortunately not weighted too heavily, so I don't have anything to worry about. After my exam I went over to a friend's house, where we studied for our social exam, ate lunch, went shopping, studied some more, took his dogs for a walk, ate dinner, studied some more, and played in a kiddie playground. It was a lovely day, but I got more than a few mosquito bites.

This is dress is a really nice stretch cotton, but as you can see it shows off my tummy a bit more than my other dresses. I think I'm alright with that. While we were on Whyte, someone called out "I love fat girls!" from their moving car. While I didn't shout anything back all I could muster was "I love fat girls too." Oh well, he probably really does love fat girls but it too busy being a street harassing douche to act upon it.

I was wearing a different scarf in the morning, but Keegan bought this vintage scarf for me while we were out and about.

Queer Prom

Last Saturday was Edmonton's 4th Annual - and my first ever - Queer Prom. I went with my girlfriend, my sister, and a friend of hers, and I had a great time. MLA Laurie Blakeman gave a wonderful speech, and tonnes of dancing ensued. My only criticism is that they played a lot of "Top 40" songs, and that means a lot of songs played at my Grad the evening prior. I would have loved some less mainstream, queer dance tunes. I'm talking MEN, Le Tigre, The Butchies, Peaches. Y'know? Anyways, on to the outfit.

I wanted to wear something fun, and took this oppurtunity to step outside of my comfort zone. I haven't shown this much leg in years. I took courage and confidence, but I ended up feeling great.

This fabulous sequin jacket is a friend's, but I'm so glad he let me borrow it for the evening.

Never-ending

You-tube user wojo4hitz has some very good videos of Tegan & Sara's concert (albiet the one in Calgary). I thought some of my favourites would be worth sharing.

Stuff to say, kind of

I just wanted to say that posting may be light in the next few weeks. I have a lot of things I want to show you, but with the semester coming to an end I have plenty of school work to do. In three weeks I have two diploma exams, both which count for half of their respective course marks. However, after that I have another week off of school.

I also wanted to add that one of my New Year's resolutions is to read two books for recreation a month. This means that I'll likely be posting about two books a month, and so I've created the tag "recreational reading" and I hope you don't mind a few book reviews here and there.

Here're some songs I enjoy, maybe you will too.

Zooey Deschanel

Now, I'm not much for mainstream media, and I think the whole idea of fashion idols is a bit...well... much. That being said there are a few people in the public eye who I do really like. First up is Zooey Deschanel.

Zooey Deshcanel is so cute! There is always a certain sense of quirkiness in her outfits and the characters she plays. She's also very attractive without being overtly sexual, which is uncommon in Hollywood (not slut-shaming, just truths). While I don't claim to a her number one fan, I have really enjoyed her movies, especially Almost Famous and (500) Days of Summer. Seriously, if you haven't seen (500) Days of Summer yet, do! It is so cute, so quirky, so fun. Joseph Gordon-Levitt, her co-star, is also very cute. She also makes up half of the indie folk band She & Him. Zooey Deschanel is obviously a very talented woman, and she has style I'd die for! Total picture overload because I'm overloaded with adoration.

More Tegan&Sara News!

Tegan and Sara's new album, Sainthood, is now being streamed on Myspace in it's entirety! The stream runs until Friday, so listen while you can. Click here to listen. And don't forget, the album goes on sale next Tuesday! I'm very impressed with their new music but as I've said before it is very different from their previous work.

For those of you who..uhm...don't really care, the T&S posts should die down eventually. Sorry! I'm just so excited!

T&S

I lo-ove Tegan and Sara. Love! So I'm of course ecstatic that they've announced their Canadian tour dates and that tickets go on sale tomorrow morning. I've seen them twice before, the last a little over two years ago, so I'm very excited they're touring again. Not only are they great musicians they also have a fun, sisterly banter on stage.

So this isn't all about me, what about you? Fans of Tegan and Sara? See any good musicians lately? Plan to see any in the near future?

KEEP ON BROWSING!
