I am feeling perky and productive today. I woke up this morning at 6:45 am, before my alarm went off, which gave me enough time to do some stretches, brew some coffee, sit in front of my Day Light, and do my make-up. Because I woke up on time I was able to have breakfast in the cafeteria (mmm, waffles) which I missed Monday and Tuesday. I headed to my Chemistry lecture feeling very positive. After chem I went off campus with a friend, got a few things at the drug store and went to Tim Hortons. Back at campus I had a delicious lunch of perogies and cabbage rolls. Yum! Right now I'm in my dorm room thinking "gosh darn it Sonia, you know exactly what things improve your mood so start doing them everyday!" And I guess I will have to, because I'm certainly not going to let SAD kick my butt. I should also mention that my student loans have come in and my tuition is paid, so I can finally relax about finances too. This afternoon I have a Chem lab, and I'll have to spend all evening on my Art History paper. Both of these things make me nervous, but I'll do my best. Oh, and I didn't mention it in yesterday's post, but I lost my Monroe piercing over the weekend. I guess the ball was loose, and when I was in the shower the water pressure popped it off and both pieces of the jewellery went down the drain. I ran back to my dorm room mid-conditioner to see it I had any other jewellery (which I didn't) but by that point it had already closed up. Boo hiss. I really love how I look with a Monroe piercing, it was brand new, and it was a birthday present to myself. I might re-pierce it, but I have a lot of dental work/oral surgery coming up this year so it might be a good idea to wait.
Thanks for letting me ramble, here's what I'm wearing today:

Outfit
Sorry for the total lack of blogging! As you can probably guess, university is taking up all of my time/energy/concentration, and the time I do have to myself has been spent eating cheese strings and reading Questionable Content (I started reading from the very begining when I move in here, and now I'm up to comic #1298).
I bought this shirt just the other day. I love the detailed sleeves, and it was only $15.
Sorry about the weird lighting. The sun was low in the sky, and shining riht through my window.
Shirt - Warehouse One size XXL
Skirt - thrifted/DIY
Leggings - Walmart size 3X
Flats - Payless size 11
Necklace - Forever 21
I bought this lovely flower garden for $2 from the dollar store. I love wall stickers.

Blog birthday
Today my little blog turns ONE! This is the first milestone, and I hope there will be more to come. In the past year I've gone through many life changes. I grew out of my shell, found ways to direct my passion, made many wonderful friends, fell in love, graduated high school, turned 18, and began university. Through all of this I have absolutely loved blogging.
Right now, I have 227 followers and receive about 200 views a day. This might not seem like a lot, especially when blogs can skyrocket into fame seemingly overnight, but it means a lot to me. I'm honoured that anyone, let alone 200 people, want to read my blog, and I appreciate every follower, reader, and commenter.
I should mention that I just got back from my university's centenary party. Celebrating my blog's first birthday when my university is celebrating it's 100th year makes me feel silly, but it's not my fault that they're on the same day.
These are, as you could have guessed, some of my favourite outfits from the past year. And in consecutive order no less!
I have something special coming up, probably after the weekend. Keep your eyes peeled!

Stripes
Today was my first day of classes. I had World History: the West, Elementary Calculus, and Art History. I'm looking forward to all of them, they all seem really interesting. I don't have much else to say, except that I'm a total shopaholic. And I love Payless's selection here. Yeah, these shoes are also new.

2nd day on campus
I'm writing this from my dorm room in Camrose, Alberta. Thank you all so much for the kind and supportive comments on my last post. I really appreciate it.
I'm feeling much better now. Yesterday I moved in, and today I registered, went to the bank, bought my textbooks ($470) and heard the dean's welcome address. I'm still feeling a bit frazzled, and home sick, but I think I'll enjoy this year. Right now it feels like I'm at camp, but I'm sure that will change as soon as classes start. Tomorrow is an all day New Student Conference and then classes start on Thursday. My dorm room is unpacked, but not nearly as well decorated as the other girls' rooms. Speaking which, the other girls in my hall are all really nice.
Anyways, here's the simple outfit I wore for today. These shoes are new. I stopped by the Payless in Camrose yesterday and they have a much better selection compared to any of the locations I've seen in Edmonton. Although my feet have already began to demolish these shoes. Because my feet are monsters, and most shoes quiver in fear momentarily and then break.
Righteous Babe t-shirt - American Apparel unisex size XL
Black denim leggings - Old Navy size 18
Woven flats - Payless size 11
Ring - Sears (purchased a few days ago for $10)
And a sneak peek of my dorm room.
The view out of my window.

Life changes
I'm moving into my dorm on Monday, and I am so stressed. Moving, university courses, packing, finances, cleaning, relationships... I can't even imagine making new friends or doing well academically right now. Oh, and I know my SAD will kick into high gear soon enough.
Wait, this wasn't supposed to be so negative. Some family is in town visiting which is really nice, as we've been trying to see them since mid-Spring. And I absolutely love my Monroe piercing. And once I've moved in, I look forward to decorating my dorm room.
When I was young and felt sad, my mom would sit next to me and list all of the good things that were about to happened as I fell asleep, and this is something I still do now.
I'll post more once I'm settled, but right now almost all of my clothes (and certainly all of the clothes I like) are packed, and my mind is elsewhere. Talk to you soon! ♥

Blouse
This top is very different than what I normally wear, but I just love it. It's so romantic and it's lined.
Blouse - Ricki's via Value Village, size 18
Skirt - Value Village
Oh, and I just have to mention that I'm posting this from my very own laptop!!! I bought it on my birthday and picked it up from Future Shop today. :)

Wrap Skirt
This wrap skirt was a birthday gift from my sister. I love it! It's reversible, and can be tied as a dress as well. My sister got it at the Jean Queen in Vancouver, BC, which I've written about before. This is the plus-size version of the wrap. You can tie it as a dress more than one way, but I took the easy route and wore it as a skirt. I love its retro housewife vibe.
Today I went to the bank, got a Monroe piercing, and went to Value Village. It was a lovely day if I do say so myself.
T-shirt - Old Navy size XXL
Wrap skirt - gifted
Vintage turquoise necklace - gifted
Flats - Payless size 11

Going out, wearing clothes
Last night I went out with my parents; tonight I'm going out with friends. We're meeting up for Japanese food and then going out for drinks. I'm admittedly a bit nervous about going out, I don't really want to go to a club. I'm thinking about hitting up the Funky Buddha on Whyte. When I'm in the mood for dancing, I'll go to one of the gay bars downtown.
Top - Walmart size 4X
Denim leggings - Old Navy size 18
Ankle boots - Walmart size 11 (I LOVE these boots, they're $20, super cute, and the slightly stretchy faux-suede makes them super easy to get on even though they don't have zippers. I've owned them before but ruined them in the snow, so these cuties are only for autumn)
Necklaces - free from the Re-Use Centre
Purse - thrifted
Ring - street vendour
It's raining terribly right now, so I'll be brining my floral umbrella too. I wish I had a chic raincoat but I don't have a raincoat at all. I'm not used to all of this rain!
