Fruit Basket

I've finally jumped into polymer clay crafts and I really love it. I always thought polymer clay was too expensive, but you use such small amounts of it with each project so it's not that bad. Plus: Handmade jewelry! Polymer clay foods! My favourite things!

While I was making the fruity necklace, I also made this rainbow pin to wear for CUQSC/general queer positivity. I'm hoping to have a polymer clay craft night at our queer youth group soon, I think they would really like it!

Shoes & Accessories

Today I went to the dentist for two more fillings (eek!) and had an eye exam. Thankfully, my optometrist's office is at the mall so I was able to do some shopping.

I wanted to get these Payless shoes last week, and was disappointed when I couldn't. Good thing I waited, as they went on sale over the weekend.

Plaid ruffle flats ($25), hounds tooth cap toe flats ($28), and basic black flats ($11)

I also bought two necklaces. After checking out a lot of stores, I chose to shop at Spring.

I also bought a comforter, sheets, and towels for my dorm room, as well as a new pair of glasses that I'll be picking up in a few days. Yay, shopping!

More floral!

I don't have tonnes to say about this outfit except that I'm glad I'm getting more comfortable showing off leg. The dress and purse are thrifted, the belt came with another dress from The Jean Queen, and the super worn out shoes are from Payless. The silver bangles are from Penningtons, the turquoise bangle is from Ten Thousand Villages, the button ring was made and gifted by my girlfriend, and the owl broach was given to me by my mom, who originally received it as a gift from my father.

Parts

To totally emulate the vlog brothers: This post comes to you in 7 parts.

Part 1: fruit.

Photobucket

Nothing's more refreshing than fresh fruit on a summer day. Oranges, watermelon, berries. Yum! This orange was so delicious I couldn't resist actually eating it after the mini photo shoot.

Part 2: curry.

The other night I made chickpea curry for dinner. The one time I followed a recipe was a (disgusting) disaster, so I just take the improvisation route. I know what spices go in curry and I'm a decent cook, so it turns out well. This time I added plain yogurt while cooking to create more of a sauce. De-licious!

Part 3: glass beads.

My girlfriend made this beautiful glass bead for me. It's not supposed to be any particular type of purple flower, but I am certain it's an iris.

Part 4: belly dance.

I can't believe I forgot to mention this, but I just finished taking an 8 week belly dance class with my girlfriend. She's taken many a belly dance class, but this was my first time. It was a lot of fun. I'm not always a fan of exercise, but belly dance was different: it felt like a great work out with making be grumpy, sore, dizzy, or giving me a migraine. Not to mention that I felt super sexy.

Part 5: re-fashioned jewellery.

Photobucket

I finished my 'romantic clusters' necklace. I'm happy with it, I think it is so darling. I wore it to school today and received a lot of compliments from my friends. I really appreciate the opinions of my readers, but y'all know it makes me week in the knees when I get compliments in real life.

Part 6: school's out!

This morning I wrote my last final exam. Now just to wait for my diploma to come in the mail. I'm not technically done though, as I have to take summer school Phys Ed 10. More on that later though, I just hope I survive. But really, I work so super duper hard on pottery and academics and I just need to grit my teeth and make it through the two weeks. The point, however, was that I'm done high school! Kind of! And it's officially summer break!

Part 7: shorts.

Photobucket

It was so hot today. After my exam I went out for lunch with my friends, and as soon as I got home I changed into a pair of house short (y'know, like lounge wear). It's great to be breezy. I'm getting more comfortable showing my legs, and the floral pattern on these shorts is to die for, so I think I'll try to wear them in real life this summer.

A nautical romance

This look feels a bit different than usual. Theses are actually the first pair of jeans that aren't skinny that I've worn in years. These are the pull-on jeans from Penningtons in a size 20. They fit exactly like yoga pants, and have faux pockets in the front with real pockets on the back. They're the most comfortable jeans I own, and also the chicest.

I decided to give this shirt, size XL from the Gap, one last chance before I donate it to the Salvation Army. I really love the nautical stripes, but don't love it overall. My biggest problem is that even though it fits loosely, the buttons gap like no tomorrow. I'll definitely be donating it, no matter how cute it may be.

I made this necklace last night and this afternoon from items around the house. I've officially named it "Mixed Metals Romantic Cluster Necklace." I'll be adding some more charms once I get more jump rings. I went through my craft basket and collection of unworn jewellery and sorted out things I could refashion into jewellery. My creative mind is overflowing, and this summer I'm looking forward to refashioning second-hand jewellery, learning to sew and knit, upcycling, DIY, crafting, etc.

I'm not a big fan of red lipstick with braces, but this outfit really felt like it needed red lips.

O-la-lala-OOTD

This evening I went to the mall (the largest mall in my city, in fact) with my older sister. I'll post my purchases tomorrow, but for now here's my outfit.

OOTD

necklace

faux-leather

Shirt - Old Navy size XXL
Jeans - Old Navy size 18
Flats - Aldo size 11
Necklace - made and gifted by my sister
Purse - purchased from the Tin Box here in Edmonton (I think there are a few locations, but alas, no website)

Yes, I did take this picture in an old Navy fitting room. :)

My sister made this necklace for me for Christmas, she made the beads out of an oven-bake clay and then threaded them on this ribbon. It's so lovely, and the fact that she made it makes it extra special. I bought this purse a few days before Christmas, with Christmas money given to me by my aunt, and I cannot get enough. The colour is gorgeous, and it's the nicest faux-leather I've ever felt. It's so soft and not at all plasticy, I actually had to double check a few times and make sure it really wasn't leather.

KEEP ON BROWSING!
