Feeling Girly

I spent most of the day baking, covered in flower and cupcake batter, but changed to go out for dinner this evening. We went to Tokyo Noodle Shop, which is the only Japanese place I’ve been. I love it, though. There were eight of us, which felt a bit crowded for the small restaurant, but we had a wonderful time. The food was so delicious.

This would be my grad dress, styled for a much more casual occasion. Graduation dresses are only supposed to be worn on your graduation, but I think that’s silly, not to mention wasteful. I was admittedly a bit nervous about wearing it, especially because I was out for dinner with my friends from school, who originally saw this dress at our Grad banquet (y’ know, serving its intended purpose). But, I bought this dress because of its versatility, and I’m certainly going to take advantage of that.

Dress – Penningtons size 2X (oops!)
T-shirt – thrifted size 1X
Flats – Naturalizer size 11
Necklace – self-made
Ring – Sears
Striped bangle – Ten Thousand Villages
Other two bangles – thrifted

Getting photos of today’s outfit was difficult. I wasn’t able to take any pictures before dinner, and after dinner the lighting was strange. There were a lot of people in the park where I usually take my pictures, and walking through the grass I raised clouds of mosquitoes with my steps. I finally settled on just taking a few photos inside.

Oh, and I finally updated the links in my sidebar. This means that I deleted the links of blogs that haven’t updated in months, and added a lot of new links to blogs I love. There were a lot of blogs I’ve been reading, following, and commenting on for a while now, but I never got around to adding their links to the sidebar. Sorry!

  1. That necklace is to die for! And really cute way to rework your dress, I love a t-shirt under tube tops/dresses.

  2. Thanks X! This is the first time I've worn a t-shirt under something sleeveless, but I liked the way it turned out.

  3. I think it's great you bought a dress that you can "dress down" and wear over and over again.

A lot of my friends seem to have big formal weddings which require posh frocks - but I always try and buy ones I can wear in other situations.

    You look fab!

  4. I do not believe in buying dresses for one occcasion only, you're right it's a waste.
I bought a knee length prom dress so i could re use it and i have, i swear i'll be the person who chops the bottom off her wedding dress, puts a leather jacket over it and wears it for drinks somewhere : )

  6. I love this outfit! The dress is so adorable. I never think to shop in Additional Elle because it seems so frumpy whenever I go in, but you have made me rethink that :)

  7. Thanks everyone!

Elizabeth, I just remembered that the dress is from Penningtons not Addition-Elle (oops!), but I think P's has an even frumpier feel overall. However, I've found great things at both places, so it's always worth it to check it out.

@Elaine, this was the first time I've tried it but I really like it. It's a great alternative to cardigans, and especiall nice in the summer.
